Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa Early Life and Education

Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa was born on the 25th of December 1967 in Sokoto but he hails from Kaduna State. He completed his early education at Marafa Danbaba Primary School, Sokoto, before proceeding to the Model Primary School Dorowa Road, Sokoto.

Major General C G Musa attended the Vocational Training Centre Gaummi, Sokoto before he graduated from the Federal Government College Sokoto. He later attended the College of Advanced Studies, Zaria, and also holds a BSc Hons (Chn) from the Nigerian Defense Academy.

Major General C G Musa went to the University of Lagos, where he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Security. He also holds MSc in Military Science from the International College of Studies – national defense University Changing, Beijing China. Since he has also gone further to develop himself by completing several courses in different military schools.

Christopher Gwabin Musa was commissioned as second Lt in 1991 into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps. In 1992, he served as a Platoon commander of 192 Battalion and also as an Intelligence Office at 192 Battalion from 1993 to 1994.

From 1995 to 1999, Christopher Gwabin Musa was an Administrative Officer at 2 Division Camp. He was also a Pioneer Adjutant at the 195 Battalion in 2000 and he served as an Operations Officer at NIBATT 8 UNAMSIL from 2001 to 2002.

Christopher Gwabin Musa was the Second in Command at 195 Battalion from 2002- 2003 and also held that same position at 149 Battalion from 2005- 2006. He served as a General Staff Officer 1 Training/Operations at HQ 81 Division from 2006 to 2007.

Christopher Gwabin Musa was a Commanding Officer at 73 Battalion from 2007 to 2009. He was the Assistant Director of Operational Requirements at the Department of Army Policy and Plans from 2009 to 2011. He was the Infantry Representative/Member of the Training Team at HQ Nigerian Army Armor Corps from 2011 to 2012.

From 2013 to 2014, Christopher Gwabin Musa was the Deputy Chief of Staff Training/Operations at HQ Infantry Centre and Corp before he became the Chief of Staff at HQ 2 Division from 2014 to 2015. He served as a Commandant Depot Nigerian Army from 2015 to 2017 and also as a Principal Staff Officer (Combat Arms) at the Army HQ Department of Projects and Programs in 2017.

Christopher Gwabin Musa was a Pioneer Executive Director of Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Ltd in 2017. He also served as Commander at 82 Division Task Force Brigade OP LAST HOLD in the North East in 2018.

In 2019, Christopher Gwabin Musa was the Commander at Sector 3 OP LAFIYA DOLE and that same year, he was a Come at Sector 3 Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Tchad Region.

From 2019 to 2020, Christopher Gwabin Musa was the Chief of General Duties at TRADOC before he became the Director of Campaign Planning at AHQ DATOPs in 2020. He was the Director of Training AHQ DATOPs in 2020 and a Senior Research Fellow at Nigerian Army Research Centre.

From 2021 to 2023, Christopher Gwabin Musa was the Theatre Comd JTF (NE) at OP HADIN KAI before he was appointed as the Chief of Defense Staff by President Bola Tinubu on the 19th of June, 2023.
