Justice Inyang Okoro was born on July 11, 1959 in Nung Ukim, Awka Ibom State, Nigeria. He completed his early education at Methodist School, Nung Ukim before he went to the School of Arts & Science, Uyo.
Justice Inyang Okoro went to the University of Lagos where he obtained his degree in Law before he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985.

Justice Inyang Okoro began his career as Magistrate Grade II before he rose to the position of Chief Magistrate Grade 1. In 1998, he became a Judge of the High Court of Akwa Ibom State where he served for eight years.
Justice Inyang Okoro was later promoted to the Court of Appeal in 2006 and served in that capacity up to 2013. He was later appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Over the years, he has also served in different capacities and bodies including as a Member of Election Petition Tribunal in Kano, Member of the Governorship and Legislative Houses Election Petition Tribunal in Ondo State, Member of the Governorship and Legislative Houses Election Petition Tribunal in Delta State.
On 8 October 2016, Justice Inyang Okoro was arrested by the Department of State Security Services (DSS), on wrongful allegations of bribery and corruption. However, after a thorough investigation, he was exonerated and recalled as a Judge of the Supreme Court.
