Doyle Brunson famously known as Texas Dolly was born on the 10th of August, 1933 in Longworth, Texas. He had two siblings and he played for the All-State Texas Basketball team.

Doyle Brunson went to Hardin-Simmons University, Texas, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Administrative. He had a shot to become a professional basketball and the Lakers (NBA) had even shown interest in him but his knee injury ended his career.

Doyle Brunson holds a Master’s degree in Administrative from the same university.

Doyle Brunson began his career as a business machine salesman and he was invited to play in a seven-card stud game on the first day of his work. He won more than a month’s salary and he left the company to become a professional poker player. He started by playing with his friend Dwayne Hamilton in illegal games on Exchange Street in Fort Worth.

Doyle Brunson and his friend began traveling around Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana to play in bigger games and meet fellow professional poker players like Amarillo Slim and Sailor Roberts. During his time, the illegal game Doyle Brunson played were run by criminals so the poker rules were not obeyed.

After years of Gambling, Doyle Brunson teamed up and pooled their money together to gamble in Las Vegas but unfortunately, they lost all of it. So, they decided not to play as teams but they were still friends.

Doyle Brunson settled in Las Vegas and he won the Event Champion and he was a two-time World Series of Poker champion. He wrote a book on how to make money on poker which is widely considered as one of the most authoritative books on poker. He continued to play in the biggest poker tournament in the world and was able to win a number of awards to his name.

Doyle Brunson was married to Louise Brunson and their marriage was blessed with kids. Over the years,

Louise has been diagnosed with several life-threatening illnesses like cancer and Tumor but has survived the illness. However, Doyle Brunson lost one of his daughters to a heart valve condition at 18 years old.
