Don Lemon was born on the 1st of March, 1966 in Louisiana, United States to the family of Wilmon Lee Richardson and Katherine Marie. He went to Baker High School in East Baton Rouge Parish and during his senior year, he was class president.

Don Lemon went to Louisiana State University where he was Republican and voted for Ronald Reagan. He completed his studies at Brooklyn College with a major in broadcast journalism. During his studies year, he gained experience working as a news assistant at a Fox News affiliate station in New York.

Don Lemon began his career as a weekend news anchor for WBRC, Alabama, and for WCAU in Pennsylvania. He worked as an anchor and investigative reporter for Fox affiliate KTVI in St. Louis, Missouri for several years.

Don Lemon worked as a correspondent for both Today and NBC Nightly News and also as an anchor on Weekend Today and programs on MSNBC. He joined NBC-owned-and-operated station WMAQ-TV in 2003 and was a reporter and co-anchor for local news.

In 2006, Don Lemon began working for CNN and he has been a strong voice on how to improve African American way of life, which has caused some controversy. After the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, he began to host a special program analyzing the event with aviation experts.

Don Lemon hosted a number of programs including the Prime time show, the Eleventh Hour, The Don Lemon Show, and CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. He also participated in CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live as a correspondent from a city in the Central Time Zone.

In 2021, Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo launch a podcast named “The Handoff” which focuses on politics and personal. That same year, the program “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon” was renamed to “Don Lemon Tonight. However, he apologized for renaming the program and made it clear that he was not leaving CNN to viewers who thought that he would be leaving CNN.

In 2022, Don Lemon hosted a talk show for CNN called “The Don Lemon Show” and two episodes were released in April 2022. That same year, CNN announced that Don Lemon is the new co-anchor on the CNN morning show with Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow.

On April 24, 2023, CNN fired Don Lemon even though his contract was supposed to expire in 2026. He claims that the firing came as a surprise because the network failed to inform him in person but CNN denied it.
