Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was born on the 28th of February 1968 in Ilobu, Irepodun LGA, Osun State. He went to Local Authority Teachers College Demonstration School Osogobo before proceeding to St Charles Grammar School, Osogobo.
Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja attended The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he obtained a National Diploma (ND) before proceeding into the Nigerian Defense Academy in 1987 as a member of the 39th Regular Course. He also holds an MSc in Strategic Studies from US Army War College.
Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has also gone further to develop himself by completing several courses in different military schools.

Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was commissioned as second Lt in 1992 into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps. From 1992 to 1995, he served as a Platoon commander of 93 Battalion and also the Platoon commander of 72 Special Forces Battalion from 1995 to 2001.
From 2001 to 2005, Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was an Instructor at the Nigerian Defense Academy. During that period, he was a Grade 2 Staff Officer in charge of peacekeeping at the Army Headquarters Department of Army Training and Operations. He was also a Grade 2 Staff Officer in charge of training at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College from 2005 to 2006.
In 2006, Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was a Directing Staff at the Forces Command and Staff College until 2009. He became a deputy Chief of Staff G1 (Administration) at the Headquarters 81 Division from 2009 to 2012.
From 2012 to 2015, Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was a Commanding Officer at 72 Special Forces Battalion. He also served as Chief of staff at the Headquarters 8 Task Force Division from 2016 to 2017. He was the Acting Director of Operations at the Army Headquarters Department of Army Training and Operations in 2018.
Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was a Commander at the Headquarters 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Lagos State from 2018 to 2019. He also served as a Commander at the Headquarters 2 Brigade, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state from 2019 to 2020.
Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja served as the Director of Force Generation at the Army Headquarters Department of Army Training and Operations from 2020 to 2021. He was the General Officer Commanding at the Headquarters 82 Division from 2021 to 2022.
From 2022 to 2023, Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja was the General Officer Commanding at Headquarters 1 Division before he was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on the 19th of June, 2023.
