Mallam Nuhu Ribadu mni was born on the 21st of November 1960 in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. He was a Nigerian police officer and a former Nigerian government anti-corruption official. On June 15, 2023, he was appointed as the Special Adviser on Security by President Bola Tinubu.

Nuhu Ribadu was the Chairman of the Petroleum Revenue Task Force and was also the pioneer Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was once a presidential candidate of the ACN party in the 2011 presidential election. In 2014, he contested and lost the Adamawa State Governorship election to the ruling party PDP.

Nuhu Ribadu Early Life and Education

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu mni was born on the 21st of November 1960 in Yola, Adamawa State. He completed his early education where he grew up with his parents in Adamawa state. He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, where he earned a Bachelor of Law degree.

Nuhu Ribadu went to the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar in 1984. He also holds a Master of Laws degree from Ahmadu Bello University. He is a senior fellow and TED fellow at St. Anthony’s College, University of Oxford, Uk.

Nuhu Ribadu Career

Nuhu Ribadu was appointed as the Chairman of EFCC by the former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003. He was also reappointed as EFFC Chairman in 2007 and was also promoted to the position of Assistant Inspector General of Police that same year. However, the promotion was challenged on the basis that it was “illegal unconstitutional, null and void, and of no legal effect.

In 2006, Nuhu Ribadu revealed to BBC that more than $360 billion had been stolen or wasted by the government since 1960. During his administration, the EFCC charged prominent bankers, ministers, Senators, high-ranking political party members, advance fee fraud, and commissioners of Police. He holds several awards for the different services offered to Nigerians.

In 2010, Nuhu Ribadu declared his intention to become the presidential candidate under the Action Congress of Nigeria party and he contested and lost in the 2011 Presidential election. He also contested in the Adamawa Governorship election and lost to the ruling party PDP.

On June 15, 2023, he was appointed as the Special Adviser on Security by President Bola Tinubu.
