Chief Michael Olasubomi Balogun was born on the 9th of March 1934 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state to Muslim parents but later converted to Christianity while he was still in secondary school.
He spent a little of his early life in Ogun stat before moving to Lagos.

Subomi Balogun finished form the Igbobi college. He completed his primary and secondary school education and obtained his first school leaving certificate and west African senior school leaving certificate.
He also studied Law at the London school of Economics.

After finishing school, he worked as a teacher in London for some time before moving back to Nigeria to join the Ministry of Justice, western region.
He was a parliamentary counsel in the federal ministry of Justice. Subomi joined the Nigeria industrial development bank (NIDB) in 1996 and also served as the director of operations at ICON Ltd for a while.
Subomi also founded City securities, a stock broking and issuing house. City Securities developed relationships with Mobil, Texaco and Total petroleum marketing companies, handling the company’s equity offerings
Around 1980, he established first city merchant bank, which is now known as the first city monument bank (FCMB).
He is also known for his philanthropist work and has given numerous donations, aid in building schools, hospitals and many more.
Subomi Balogun built a National Pediatric Centre in Ijebu-Ode that he donated to University of Ibadan’s, University College Teaching Hospital
