Edwin Clark was born on the 25th of May 1927 in Kiagbodo in the Ijaw area of Delta state. His brother is the late Poet J.P Clark.

Edwin Clark had his primary and secondary education at Effurun, Okrika & Afugbene while he attended the Delta State University, Abraka for his higher education.
He then traveled abroad to earn a Law degree.

Edwin Clark worked with the administration of Military governor Samuel Ogbemudia & head of state, General Yakubu Gowon between 1966 & 1975.
In 1966, he was a member of an advisory committee to the military governor of the mid-western region province, David Ejoor & was appointed federal commissioner of information in 1975.
Edwin Clark got involved in Politics in the pre-indepedence period in 1953 and was the Council of Bomadi.
He joined the National council of Nigeria & the Cameroons (NCNC), and after the military coup of January 1966, Clark was among a group of delegates from the Mid West who approved any ideas of Confederation that were raised at an ad-hoc constitutional conference set up by Gowon 1966.
Clark was later appointed Mid-western commissions of Education & later finance.
He was a member of the national executive committee of the national party of Nigeria (NPN) and was the treasurer of the party in Bendel state.
He was elected senator for 3 months in 1983.
