Tems (Temilade Openiyi) was born on the 11th of June 1995. Her father is british and her mother is Nigerian.
She grew up with her mother, as both her parents separated when she was just 5. Tems grew up idolizing “Beyonce” and wanted to be as iconic as her, while she was growing up.

Tems grew up in Lagos and attended the Bowen college in Lekki, before proceeded to Johannesburg to study Economics and eventually graduate.

Tems started singing at a young age, and learnt to play the piano in school. She would also practice singing with her brother’s guitar accompaniment.
