Olu Agunloye is a native of Ondo State. He completed his early education where he grew up with his parent before proceeding to a Nigerian university where he obtained his degree.

Olu Agunloye holds a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Ibadan.

Olu Agunloye began his career as a professor of Physics at the University Ibadan Department of Physics for several years and was a visiting scientist at the Department of Applied Geophysics, MIT. He later ventured into politics and became Minister of Power and Steel under the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo. He is also a former Minister of State for Defence (Navy).

In 2016, Olu Agunloye joined the Social Democratic Party and became one of the Ondo State Governorship candidates. He has previously been a member of the Action Congress of Nigeria and the People’s Democratic Party.
