Philip Shaibu Early Life and Education

Philip Shaibu was born on December 1st, 1969 in Kaduna State, Nigeria. He began his early education at St. Augustine Primary School, Kaduna State, and completed it at L.E.A Primary School Barnawa, where he obtained the First School Leaving Certificate. He went to Saudana Memorial Secondary School, Kawo Kaduna where he completed his secondary education.

 

Philip Shaibu went to the University of Jos where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Benin.

Philip Shaibu Career

Philip Shaibu began his career at the  Nigerian Prisons Service, Abuja but he retired as an Assistant Inspector of Prisons in 2002 to focus on politics. In 2003, he contested for the seat of the Edo State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Nigerian People Party but lost.

In 2007, Philip Shaibu re-contested for the seat and won the election to represent the good people of Etsako West Constituency under the platform of the Action Congress at the Edo State House of Assembly. He also won the Etsako Federal constituency House of Representatives seat in 2015.

Thereafter, Philip Shaibu became the running mate to Governor Godwin Obaseki at the 2016 Edo State Gubernatorial election. Since then, he has served as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. 

On November 27, 2023, Philip Shaibu made his intention known to the public that he would compete for the Peoples Democratic Party ticket in the forthcoming party primaries.
