Sim Fubara whose full name is Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Joseph Fubara was born on the 28th of January 1975 in Opobo Town, Rivers State. He is a well-known Nigerian accountant and politician who is currently serving as the Governor of Rivers State.

Sim Fubara whose full name is AmaopuseniboSiminalayi Joseph Fubara was born on the 28th of January 1975 in Opobo Town, Rivers State. He completed his early education at Opobo Primary School before he proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School, Opobo. 

Sim Fubara attended the Rivers State University of Science and Technology where he obtained his degree in Accountancy. He also holds an MBA and MSc from the University of Port Harcourt in 2013 and 2016 respectively.

Sim Fubara Career

Sim Fubara began his career as a principal accountant at the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board in 2003 before he rose to the position of director of finance and account at the State government house. Eventually, he became the permanent secretary in 2020.

In 2020, Sim Fubara was appointed the accountant general of Rivers State. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and also a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.

In the 2023 Rivers State Gubernatorial election, Sim Fubara contested as the governorship candidate of the People Democratic People (PDP) and won the election. However, on October 30, 2023, the Rivers State House of Assembly launched an impeachment proceeding against the state Governor, Sim Fubara. This resulted in a protest with the governor’s supporters resisting the planned impeachment.
