Nicholas Ukachukwu Early Life and Education

Nicholas Ukachukwu was born on the 20th of March, 1969 in Anambra State, Nigeria. He began his early education at  St. John Primary School and completed it at St. Charles Secondary School, Onitsha.  

Nicholas Ukachukwu went to the University of Nigeria, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Manchester, England.

Nicholas Ukachukwu began his career as a director when he joined his father’s business, Nwankwo and Son Limited. He handled the importation and distribution of several commodities including Sugar, cement, rice, and fertilizer.

Nicholas Ukachukwu is the founder and CEO of SNECOU Group Limited, an organization with an interest in oil and gas, real estate, construction, agriculture,  education, and media. He is also the founder of British Nigerian Academy, a private learning institution for students from nursery to secondary level.

Besides being a successful businessman, Nicholas Ukachukwu is a highly respected politician and a founding member of the People Democratic Party (PDP). In 1999, he was elected to represent the Bwari Abuja Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In 2006, Nicholas Ukachukwu left PDP for the Progressive Peoples Alliance after he was denied the party ticket to contest for the Anambra State Governorship election. He contested as the governorship candidate under the Progressive People Alliance but he lost to Peter Obi of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). He returned to the People Democratic Party after he re-contested for the governorship seat and lost again in 2010. Even though he bought the party ticket to run for the Anambra State Governorship seat in 2017, he lost the primary election to Oseloka Obaze.

In 2018, Nicholas Ukachukwu left PDP again and joined APGA, where he contested and won the primary election to represent the Anambra South Senatorial District. Unfortunately, his victory was challenged in court by Dr. Anselm Enyimba who claimed that Nicholas Ukachukwu won the primary through fraud. Eventually, the court ruled in favor of Anselm Enyimba and he was declared as the authentic candidate of AGPA.

Nicholas Ukachukwu was married to the Late Mrs. Nnenna Millicent and they are blessed with five kids. He lost his lovely wife to an unfortunate motor accident.
