Bode Agusto was born on September 14, 1955, in Lagos state in Nigeria. He completed his early education at St. Peter’s School and Methodist Boys High School before he went to St. Gregory College where he obtained his Secondary School certificate.

Bode Agusto went to the University of Lagos where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy & Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management. He is also an alumnus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He also holds a Certificate of Professional Development from the University of Pennsylvania.

Bode Agusto Career

Bode Agusto began his career at Price Waterhouse where he worked for about a decade before he rose to the position of Senior Manager. He later joined the Nigerian CitiBank as the Assistant Vice President.

After working for CitiBank for about two years, Bode Agusto went back to work as a Partner for PwC for about a year before he established his firm called Agusto & Co., a firm of Industry Analyst and Financial Consultants. His firm became the first indigenous credit rating agency in Nigeria after obtaining an SEC license.

Bode Agusto had over 30 years of experience in chartered accounting covering both the private and public sectors. He was the founding Managing Director of his for more than 10 years before he left to honor a public service appointment. He was appointed as Director-General and adviser on Budget Matters to President Obasanjo during his second term in office.

After serving as an Adviser, he was nominated for a ministerial position but it didn’t materialize. Since then, he has served as a non-executive Director at Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, the National Pension Commission, the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund, and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN.
