She hails from Osun state but was born and bred in Lagos state, Nigeria. Liya became the first and only lady signed to DMW, after her signing was announced by Davido on his Instagram page in 2020.
According to label mate Peruzzi, he was very impressed when he first heard Liya, and he urged label boss Davido to sign her.

Liya whose real name is Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola was born in 1999 and hails from Osun state but was born in Lagos state.
She developed an interest in Music and started singing at a very young age.

Liya completed her primary and secondary education in Lagos state, and obtained her first school leaving certificate and west Africa school senior school certificate.
She furthered her education at the Univeristy of Illorin, where she studied Linguistics (Yoruba).
Liya career
Liya rose to prominence when she was signed by DMW boss and Nigerian music superstar Davido. This made her the first and only lady on the record label.
On the 8th of December 2020, she made her debut on the label with the song “Melo” which was released alongside an official music video that featured her boss “Davido”.
